Claire Maden began her training at the age of 11 years old, off the back of being surrounded by her three brothers, who exposed martial arts movies as she grew up. Claire found that training in martial arts gave her purpose and it became the highlight of her weekly timetable. This led to her assisting in classes and taking an interest in helping the children younger than herself. Being the youngest sibling, this gave Claire responsibility she had never experienced before.
Claire has been involved in Competitions since the age of 12 years and now focusses her time coaching her students in the same field. Claire's experiences range across countries such as America, Sweden, Portugal, Slovenia, Italy, Brazil and Ireland. Competing on a national and international basis.
Claire decided upon completing her GCSE's that she had no other interest, than sport, in particular, her karate. She decided to head to college and complete a BTEC National Diploma in Sport Science, followed by a full time course in Fitness Instruction and Personal Training. When Claire began teaching, she also worked within the fitness industry to broaden her communication skills and safe exercise practice with adults.
Now, Claire teaches both children and adults under the OSTMA banner and continues to promote that fitness is fun and, as it was for Claire upon first stepping into her first karate class, promoting that OSTMA is a second home for everyone, like family.
