Founded in 2004, by chief instructor Sensei Paul Wood, Oxford Sport & Traditional Martial Arts (OSTMA), delivers high standards of karate tuition in many schools, sports centres and community halls across Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties of Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire.
Our website shows the list of Oxford Sport & Traditional Martial Arts instructors, the venues in which they teach as well as the days and times. All students become direct members with the instructor they join for their chosen area and pays all tuition fees to that instructor only. Oxford Sport & Traditional Martial Arts are not responsible for any tuition fees. OSTMA has karate classes stretching in to 3 counties all led by professional, fully insured and police checked instructors. With specialist sessions from the age of 4 years old, right through to adult classes, OSTMA provides superior knowledge in the art of karate.
OSTMA has a fantastic reputation for children's martial arts, providing fun filled, high energy karate classes with a focus on life and safety skill development. Stranger awareness and bully proofing skills are paramount at OSTMA as we teach methods backed by head teachers across the counties. Smiling, sweating and learning are the key factors behind every OSTMA class!
We have a highly experienced competition squad with results at domestic, national, international, European and World level. We have members on the English national karate team, past and present.
Some of our instructors have high grade qualifications within the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Fundamental ground self defence is found within the OSTMA syllabus to compliment the stand up skills of karate and separate BJJ classes are also taught for students wishing to pursue this separate discipline further.
